What is Dream Studio?
Dream Studio is an in-browser editor for dream graph data. It lets you modify nodes, edges, weights, and connections, then preview the result in real time before loading it into the main graph visualization.
Layout
Left Panel Contains the node and edge tables. Switch between them using the Nodes and Edges tabs. All fields are editable inline.
Right Panel Shows a live 2D force-directed preview of the current graph. Nodes are colored by category and sized by importance. Edges are drawn with opacity based on weight.
Splitter Drag the vertical bar between the panels to resize. The left panel can be 20-80% of the width.
Editing Nodes
Add Node Click + Add Node to create a new node with a default ID, label "New Node", and category "observation". Edit any field by clicking the cell.
ID Unique integer identifier for the node. Used by edges to reference this node.
Importance A value from 0 to 1. Higher values make the node appear larger in the graph preview and main visualization.
Category Determines node color. Common categories: architecture, root_cause, lessons_learned, procedure, observation, idea, risk, plan, completed, self_model, session_journal, documentation, optimization, skills, workflow.
Del Removes the node. Edges referencing it will remain but may point to non-existent IDs.
Editing Edges
Add Edge Creates a new edge between the first two nodes in the list. Change Source ID and Target ID to connect different nodes.
Weight A value from 0 to 1. Controls edge visibility in the preview and spring force strength in the main graph.
Relation Type Describes the connection type, e.g. "correlates", "causes", "derives_from", "supports", "contradicts".
Export
Export JSON Downloads the current graph as a JSON file containing nodes and edges arrays. Use this to save your work or share with others.
Import
Import JSON Replaces the current graph with data from a previously exported JSON file. This discards all current edits.
Merge
Merge JSON Loads a JSON file and appends its nodes and edges to the current graph. Imported node IDs are remapped to avoid collisions with existing nodes. Edge source_id and target_id values are updated to match the new IDs.
Load into Graph
Load into Graph Sends the current studio data to the main 3D graph visualization. Opens the graph page with your edited data loaded directly from the browser session, no server upload needed.
